Telangana Govt appoints new A.G

Hyderabad, Aug 11: The State government on Friday appointed senior lawyer B.S. Prasad as Advocate-General of Telangana. He will replace D. Prakash Reddy who resigned in March this year.

The government accepted Mr. Reddy's resignation and issued the order appointing Mr. Prasad as A-G.

Presently working as Government Pleader for Medical and Health department in High Court, Mr. Prasad has been practicing law for past three decades.

Hailing from Jangaon of erstwhile Warangal district, he completed L.L.B. and M.A. from Osmania University. Fifty-five-year-old Prasad argued cases relating to civil, banking, service law and writs.

He was also a legal adviser for many nationalized banks and financial institutions.

Mr. Prasad's wife B. Madhavi is also a lawyer.

The couple has three daughters. Elder daughter is pursuing post-graduation in law, while the second one completed graduation in law. Telangana government had appointed K. Ramakrishna Reddy as its first A-G in June 2014. After three years, he resigned in July 2017 following which Mr. D. Prakash Reddy was appointed A-G.

While the hearing of a writ petition filed by two Congress MLAs challenging their expulsion from Telangana Assembly was in progress, Mr. Prakash Reddy resigned in March. Recently, two Public Interest Litigations (PILs) were filed in the HC seeking appointment of A-G for Telangana.
