No Permision for Rahul Gandhi to visit OU

Hyderabad, Aug 11: In a shocking news, The Telangana Students Joint Action Committee and Unemployed Joint Action Committee of Osmania University Vice-Chancellor S. Ramchandram after the varsity denied permission for the visit of AICC president Rahul Gandhi on August 14.

They raised slogans against the V-C and the authorities, accusing them of buckling under the pressure of the government, which they said was "afraid of Mr. Gandhi's visit" and the political implications of it.

They wanted the Vice - Chancellor to withdraw the letter rejecting permission and sought the reasons behind the decision. Later, they left, however, unconvinced with the explanation.

Earlier, in the day the varsity released a letter rejecting permission citing security reasons as Mr. Gandhi was under Z Plus security.

The students said the government was in such a state that it could not even provide security to a national leader.

"It only shows the helplessness of the government and its inefficiency in making security arrangements," said Manavata Roy TSJAC leader.

Prof. Ramchandram said they had to reject permission for security reasons and there was no pressure on him from any quarters. "It was our decision alone", he said.
