Chennai, Aug 11: Bollywood superstars Salman Khan and Aamir Khan have had a dream run at China's box office with films like Sultan, Dangal and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Now it is Tamil actor Vijay's turn to try his luck. Vijay-starrer Mersal has been picked by China's HGC Entertainment for release in the country.
The Vijay-starrer will be dubbed into Mandarin later this year or in early 2019, sources said.
Directed by Atlee, the action thriller released in India in 2017, and had garnered a lot of positive response from the critics and audience.
The background score and soundtrack of the film were composed by Oscar and Grammy winner A.R. Rahman.
Mersal, which had run into controversy over its critical references of GST, had crossed over rs 250 crore at the global box office.
While Vijay plays a 'triple role' in Mersal, the film also featured Nithya Menen, Kajal Aggarwal and Samantha Akkineni in key roles.
On the professional front, Vijay is currently shooting for AR Murugadoss' Sarkar in USA. Talking about his character, his role is somewhat similar to Google CEO’s Sundar Pichai, who is a tech-executive in America. He comes back to Tamil Nadu to enter politics. The film will address lots of social problems in Tamil Nadu and the climax will be the highlight of the film. The political thriller will have a lot of twists and turns and will keep you glued to your seat.
