Hyderabad: Intermediate Girl student found dead

Hyderabad, Aug 08: In a gruesome incident, The body of a 17-year-old minor girl was found in a secluded place near the staff quarters in Osmania University here on Tuesday evening.

Police suspect that her jilted lover killed her by slitting her throat. The girl was identified as Anusha, an Intermediate second-year student from a private college in Himayathnagar.

According to police, the body was found in a pool of blood in a secluded place near the staff quarters around 4.30 pm. Students and locals who noticed her informed the Osmania University police, who in turn booked a murder case.

Police suspect that a boy identified as Venkatesh (18), also an Intermediate student and Anusha’s friend, could be behind the murder. The suspect was in love with her and was bearing a grudge against her after she allegedly started avoiding him recently. Sources said the boy had called Anusha to come to the secluded place near the University to discuss the issue.

It is believed that when she met him, he started arguing with her. Following a heated argument, he pulled out a sharp weapon and attacked her. Anusha sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot, police said.

While sources said Venkatesh was taken into custody, police are yet to confirm the same. Anusha's body was meanwhile shifted to the Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy and further investigation is on.
