Heavy rush at Hyderabad Metro Rail

Hyderabad, Aug 07: As we know that, The nationwide transport strike announced by the All India Motor Transport Organisation is likely to cripple normal life in several states on Tuesday.

The workers have decided to strike work against the "retrograde provisions" of the Motor Vehicles Amendment Bill as well as the continuous rise in the prices of petroleum products.

With a majority of autorickshaws, city buses and cabs going off the road as part of a transport union strike, the Hyderabad Metro has come to the rescue of commuters in the city.

Metro trains right from morning are running packed to the brim.

In view of the strike, called for by unions of TSRTC drivers, auto drivers unions and those of taxi drivers in the capital protesting the amendment of the Motor Vehicles Act, Metro authorities are operating extra trains to meet the demand. Extra manpower too has been deployed.

Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited Managing Director NVS Reddy said train services would be extended by one hour in the night. Accordingly, the last trains will start operations at 11 pm from both Nagole and Miyapur will reach the last station around midnight.

There will be a train for every 6.5 minutes all through the day, he said.
