Chris Gayle Creates World Record

Warner Park, July 30: West Indies Star Batsmen Chris Gayle has created a world record here on Sunday to become the most number of six-hitter in international cricket.

Gayle smashed five sixes in against Bangladesh in the third and final One-Day International (ODI) at the Warner Park in St Kitts.

Gayle, who scored a blistering 73-run from 66 balls equaled Afridi's feat of an identical number of sixes.

Both the batsmen now hold 476 sixes to their name. Gayle achieved the feat in 443 matches while Afridi reached the mark in 524 matches.

However, Gayle's power-packed knock on the top of the order failed to help West Indies clinch an ODI series victory against minnows Bangladesh -- who won the series 2-1.

Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni remains the only active player in the top five six-hitters in international cricket with 342 sixes, while Rohit Sharma is seventh in the list with 298 sixes against his name.
