BJP shocking comments on CM HD Kumaraswamy

Bengaluru, July 16: The Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Patry (BJP) has mocked the recent public outburst of Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy calling him a "legendary actor".

The state Twitter handle of the BJP on Sunday (July 15) tweeted a footage of teary-eyed Kumaraswamy saying he is a legendary actor "who has constantly fooled common man with his amazing acting skills".

The BJP state unit in a tweet said: "& the best acting award goes to..."

Kumaraswamy broke down at an event organized by his party JD(S) to felicitate him for becoming the Chief Minister in Bengaluru on July 14. He told his party workers that he was not happy as he is heading a coalition government which does not have the mandate of the people of Karnataka.

"You [partymen] are all happy because you think that your brother has become the CM. But I am not happy. Only I know what I am going through," he had said.

JD(S) secretary general and party spokesperson Danish Ali, however, sought to play down Kumaraswamy's remarks and claimed it was merely an "emotional outburst".

"That was merely an emotional outburst and some in the media are reading too much into it," he said.

"There are no strains between the Congress and the JD(S) and the coalition government in Karnataka is stable and will complete its five-year term under a common minimum programme for the welfare of the people of the state...," Ali said.

The Congress has also joined the JD(S) in playing down Kumaraswamy's statement.

"How can he say that... He must be definitely happy. A chief minister has to be happy always. If he is happy, we will all be happy," Deputy Chief Minister and Congress leader G Parameshwara told reporters in Bengaluru.

"You have to face problems. Simply expressing won't give a good message to people who supported secular parties. Kumaraswamy should be courageous to face such circumstances," Senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said yesterday.
