Okay, Top rank! But, how about investments?

Amaravati, July 11: For the 4th successive year, Andhra Pradesh has achieved first place in the country in 'ease of doing business', as per the rankings announced on Tuesday by the Department for Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), which is under the Union commerce and industry ministry.

Here are the rankings announced in 'ease of doing business'.

1. Andhra Pradesh - 98.42

2. Telangana - 98.33

3. Haryana - 98.07

4. Jharkhand - 97.99 and

5. Gujarat - 97.96

However, the states Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Rajasthan are the other states in the top 10 of the list. The national capital Delhi (31.60 percent) has been ranked 23, dropping from 19 in 2016, in the 3rd edition of the list.

Naturally, such a ranking will give an opportunity to Telugu Desam Party president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to possess about his achievements.

"We have done it again!. Andhra Pradesh is no.1 in Ease of Doing Business. Reason why some of the best companies in the world are looking here to invest!! Kudos to @ncbn," tweeted CM Chandrababu's son and IT minister Nara Lokesh.

The declaration of rankings directs to precipitate a competition among states, to attract investments and improve the business zone. Despite getting the top rank in the last 4 years, Andhra Pradesh is not proliferating with industrial advances.

It is noticeable from the way Naidu has failed to bring meaningful investments to the state in the last 4 years. As against his profess of signing 'Memorandums of Understanding' (MoUs) with various companies committing an investment of Rs. 20 lakh crore, the actual investments on the ground do not cross more than Rs. 20,000 crore.

So it is advised that Just rankings are not sufficient. They should convert into real ventures!!
