Vijayawada, July 09: In a significant development, The agriculture sector in Andhra Pradesh is likely to get a boost as Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held discussions with agri-business experts from Germany to upgrade technology in the agri sector in the State during his Singapore tour on Sunday.

Already, the AP Economic Development Board entered into a MoU with German agribusiness team led by chief customer solution officer Aylwin Tan.

The meeting concentrated on ten agricultural products and exports. The meeting concentrated on the production of maize and chillies. The Chief Minister said the agricultural sector in the State was marching ahead with 34 per cent growth rate.

He stressed the need for further strengthening of the sector for more value addition. The meeting decided to concentrate on maize, shrimp, tomato, paddy, and chillies and food procession units.

The Chief Minister said that the State government had been according to top priority for the advancement of the primary agricultural sector.

Singapore senior ambassador Gopinath Pillai who met Naidu said both the countries were conducting review meeting once in three months, which was likely to attract investments in the agricultural sector.

He said AP farmers would get the benefit if the agricultural sector and agri based business witnessed growth. Steps should be taken to increase cold chains, food procession units and agri-based companies, he felt.
