Mumbai, July 09: It is known that heavy rains are hitting the Mumbai continuously, this heavy rain leads to the death of a woman in Thane district when she was thrown off a bike and came under a bus on Sunday.

The whole incident was captured in the CCTV camera of a nearby shop. The woman was thrown off the bike on which she was with a family member, and was crushed to death after she came under a bus.



The incident at Shivaji Chowk on Saturday evening was caught on closed-circuit television or CCTV cameras. Police said the bus driver, who fled from the spot, has been identified.

The woman, identified as Manisha Bhoir, works in a school in Kalyan. On Sunday evening, she was going home with a family member.

In the video, Bhoir is seen riding pillion and was holding an umbrella to protect herself and the rider from the rain. Suddenly, the bike lost its balance when it went over a pothole and Bhoir and her co-rider fell to their right side.

The woman was in no time crushed under the rear wheels of a speeding bus after which she died on the spot.

P Londhe, a senior police inspector at Mahatma Phule police station, said the driver lost balance while trying to avoid a deep pothole on a waterlogged road. The two-wheeler can be seen slipping in the CCTV footage as it goes over a pothole and both the rider and pillion fall to their right.

Londhe said Bhoir's head came under the rear tyre of the speeding bus and she started bleeding profusely.

"Bhoir was taken to a hospital but she was declared brought dead. A case was registered against the bus driver under relevant sections of the IPC (Indian Penal Code) and motor vehicle act. We have got the number of the bus and very soon we will arrest him," added Londhe.

Mumbai has been witnessing heavy rainfall with the commencement of monsoon, which has led to waterlogging in several areas in the city. Rail tracks at some places have also been submerged.
