Nawaz Sharif sentenced to 10 years

Islamabad, July 06: Here is the breaking news that, Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been sentenced to ten years in prison over corruption charges related to his family's purchase of overseas properties.

Coming to details, His daughter Mariam Nawaz, widely seen as Sharif's chosen political heir, was also found guilty and is facing seven years in prison. Her husband Captain Safdar has received a one-year jail sentence.

The court has also ruled that the Avenfield apartments of the Sharif family, in their possession since 1993, shall be seized by the federal government.

The police have made huge security arrangements to prevent any unwanted incidents in Islamabad, as the Pakistani people are waiting on this.

Nawaz Sharif's name in Panama papers has been ordered by the Pakistan National Accountability Bureau to investigate.

The high court ruled that Sharif had been dishonest to Parliament and to the judicial system and was no longer fit for office.
