Bengaluru, Jul 06: In a major good news, The Karnataka Chief Minister, HD. Kumaraswamy who is also a prominent Kannada film producer known for giving super hit movies like Chandra Chakori, on Thursday announced a special housing scheme for film artists and technicians in the state.
He also said he was committed to implementing the major recommendations of the committee headed by Dr Jayamala, constituted to study the condition of sex workers, which includes housing for this section.
In his budget speech, Mr Kumaraswamy said, "I will provide Rs 20 crore for housing and for creation of other essential infrastructure for the artists and technicians coming from other countries for film production."
He added that in the past, to provide housing facility to poor people of Bengaluru city a project called 'Chief Minister's 2018-19 one lakh houses' was implemented. It is proposed to extend this project to all cities in the coming years.
"To remove the difficulties in providing houses to the poor in Bengaluru city, our government proposes to build multi floor houses (ground floor + 14) in selected places. It is estimated that the population in the slums of the state is more than 40 lakh.
It is proposed to develop slum localities in the municipal areas on private-public participation basis by providing them houses on the basis of Additional Floor Area Ratio instead of Transfer of Developmental Rights(TDR). Detailed guidelines in this regard will be brought into effect from 2019-20," he explained.
