Andheri Bridge Collapses, 2 Critical

New Delhi, July 03: Heavy rains from the early hours of Tuesday has once again left Mumbai rather vulnerable with reports of submerged roads and slow traffic movement being reported from several parts of the city.

A portion of the Andheri West bridge collapsed due to Mumbai rains on Tuesday obstructing train operations. Around 5 people are said to be injured, out of which two are critical.

While the BMC promises better preparedness for the rains each year, Mumbaikars each year have to face repeated hardships and this time is no different.

The collapse was reported at around 7:30 am when a slab of the bridge that connects Andheri East to Andheri West fell on to the tracks.

Traffic on all four railway lines -- the up and down fast lines and the up and down slow lines -- between the Bandra and Goregaon suburban stations as well as on the bridge affected came to a halt after the collapse.
