Guinness World Record on International Yoga Day

New Delhi, June 21: The world is celebrating International Yoga Day today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Dehradun led thousands of volunteers to perform yoga asanas to mark the fourth International Yoga Day.

A world record was created today for the maximum number of people participating in yoga event
1.5 to 2 lakh people attended the event.

101 world records were created today and were timed by Guinness Book of World Record and Golden Book of World Record

Around 1.05 lakh (still counting) people perform Yoga together in Kota to create a Guinness World Record on International Yoga Day. Yoga guru Ramdev and Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia are also present.

"BMC schools at 44 different locations have been instructed to conduct yoga session for about 45 minutes. This year, around 1.5 lakh students along with 15,000 teachers and sub-staff will take part and perform various asanas," said Mahesh Palkar, education officer.

Patanjali Ayyarude MD Acharya Balakrishna, Rajasthan Chief Vasundhara Raje and others participated in the fort celebrations. The first International Yoga Day was held on June 21, 2015. This is the fourth year.

Vice President Venkiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Raj Nath Singh, Smriti Irani, Piyush Goyal, Prakash Javadekar and Suresh Prabhu participated in various yoga celebrations across the country.
