Hyd Metro Rail LB Nagar-Ameerpet route to get operational soon

Hyderabad, June 21: In good news for Hyderabad Metro Rail Passengers, The Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MAUD) minister KT Rama Rao has reiterated on Wednesday that the LB Nagar-Ameerpet Metro stretch will be made operational by July-end.

He inspected Metro stations at Lakdikapul, Nampally and MGBS and directed Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) officials to develop a heritage precinct between Nampally and Rangamahal stations.

"We are expecting to make the LB Nagar-Ameerpet stretch operational by July-end after chief minister inaugurates it," the minister said.

He said Hyderabad Metro got better response than services in Chennai , Benguluru and other cities as it was getting a ridership of 80,000 daily.

"The detailed project report (DPR) of Metro phase-II is expected to be prepared by July," he said, adding "the DPR for Metro connectivity to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) will be completed by August." To put an end to parking woes, particularly near Metro stations, the government would float tenders to build 42 multi-level parking complexes in the next 15 days.

"The parking places will not be just open land. In fact, they will have all amenities with modern infrastructure," he added.

The government plans to develop infrastructure at MGBS and Nampally so people could use Metro directly after stepping out from the stations.

Last-mile connectivity was also discussed. "The government is planning last-mile connectivity from Metro stations by roping in operators of electrical vehicles. An action plan will be prepared and electric vehicles will be introduced for last-mile connectivity. Charging points will come up at metro stations," the minister added.
