James Sutherland to resign as Cricket Australia CEO

Australia, June 06: Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland made an unprecedented decision Wednesday.

According to the sources, Sutherland on Wednesday announced his intention to call time on his 17-year tenure in the high-profile role as of next year, having given his long-time employers 12 months' notice.

He said it was something he has been thinking about for some time, despite having indicated in the fall-out of the scandal in South Africa that he wanted to stay on in the position.

Sutherland said, "This is the right time for cricket after 20 years in Australia. I am very satisfied. This is the right time for me to break down, on the other hand it's a good time for the game, "said Suther Land.

In the last 12 months, we have made a number of strategic changes in Australian cricket. Australian Cricketers' Association (ACA) eliminated uncertainty with the understanding of men and women cricketers. The new domestic broadcasting agreement raised TV coverage. As such reforms come into force, I feel it is a good time to assign my responsibilities to another CEO. Sutherland said.
