Unbelievable: Sexual commitments even in Sports

New Delhi, June 06: The Sports Authority of India (SAI) responded to complaints of sexual abuse, prompting it to sack one coach and order the compulsory retirement of an employee.

There were complaints of sexual harassment against sports players in three regional centers in the possession of SAI. An internal probe has been launched against another coach.

The dismissed coach was from SAI's Tamilnadu center. About 15 junior athletes had sent a complaint in broken English to the SAI headquarters, alleging that the coach was seeking sexual favours from them.

He had allegedly told the girls that a refusal would mean the end of their careers.

A similar complaint received from junior campers in Gujarat is under investigation. In another harassment case reported from SAI centre in Bengaluru, an accountant was found sending lewd text messages to a woman coach at the academy.

Responding to the incidents at the centers, Sai Director General Neelam Kapoor was instructed to inquire into the incident. Calls are being set up to solve sexual harassment and other problems, said Kapoor.
