Hyderabad, June 05: The Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has participated in a review meeting on Farmers' schemes here on Monday.

Giving a direction to the large gathering of Agriculture Extension Officers, District and Mandal level coordinators of farmers' committees at an awareness meeting on Rythu Bandhu Insurance scheme here on Monday, Chief Minister explained their crucial role in organizing the farmers and bring them to a common platform through Rythu Vedika in every mandal.

"Time has come for intelligent and technique-based farming to realize good returns from agriculture. With unity comes better bargaining power and with it prosperity for farmers and the State.

About 50% of people are dependent on agriculture and the State will soon show how one can thrive on agriculture," he said adding there was pressure from farmers in other States to implement Investment Support scheme, he added.

The CM said the new insurance scheme covering nearly 58 lakh farmers will benefit their families in case of sudden death. "This insurance scheme is one which has given me immense satisfaction," KCR said.

He concerned after narrating an incident, As part of wedding planning, a bride's relatives have asked about bridegroom's work, then he replayed that, He is a farmer having 10 acres of land. Instantly Bride's family have rejected him, which is an insult to a farmer. This kind of mentality has to be changed.

He also assured that every farmer will feel proud, said to be a Telangana farmer, then only we can achieve 'Bangaru Telangana'.
