Telangana: Govt sanctions Rs 7,190 Crores

Hyderabad, June 01: The Telangana Government has sanctioned various irrigation works worth Rs. 7,190 Crore under Prime Minister Krishi Seenchai Yojna (PMKSY) here on Thursday.

Addressing a review meeting, Chief Secretary S.K. Joshi said that works worth Rs. 5,093 crore to irrigate 2.80 lakh hectares have been sanctioned under AIBP scheme for the year 2018-19.

He said Telangana Government has been implementing Germany's Micro Irrigation Scheme and so far 7.2 lakh hectares have been covered. He said a target of irrigating 6.37 lakh hectares through 11 projects and funds of Rs. 24,574 crore has been set.

The Chief Secretary said so far Rs. 1567 crore has been spent on 11 projects to irrigate 5.31 lakh hectares under Command Area Development works. He said 575 water bodies have been established at a cost of Rs. 459 crore for repair and renovation. He said this year works pertaining to 494 water bodies would be executed.

The meeting was also attended by Special Chief Secretary Ajay Mishra, Principal Secretaries Aadhar Sinha, Vikas Raj, Parthasarathy, Agriculture Commissioner Jagan Mohan, Horticulture Commission Venkat Ram Reddy and others.
