Extreme heatwave forecast for Telugu States

New Delhi, May 31: Most parts of the province remained in the grip of intensely hot weather conditions on Wednesday.

Extreme heatwave conditions have been forecast in many parts of Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana with temperatures expected to touch a maximum of 46 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours.

The States Disaster Management Authority has cautioned people to take necessary precautionary measures in view of the extreme weather.

Visakhapatnam, Kadapa, Anantapuramu and Kurnool districts may record 40-41 degrees Celsius, while Srikakulam and Vizianagaram may record 38-39 degrees Celsius, officials said.

Areas in the city such as Khairathabad, Ramachandrapuram, Secunderabad, Serilingampally, and Bandlaguda recorded temperatures above 40. According to trends in the readings, it's hottest between 2 pm and 4 pm in the city.

The temperature across northern Telangana remained over 42 degree Celsius while Asifabad recorded the highest maximum temperature of 44.8 degree Celsius.

In Hyderabad, the maximum temperature of 40.7 degree Celsius was nearly three degree Celsius lower than Tuesday's recording.
