By-Election result updates

New Delhi, May 31: The counting of the results of the 4 Lok Sabha and 11 Assembly seats across the country continues.

Coming to details, the ruling party BJP was seen lagging in the closely-watched Kairana seat.

The BJP is leading in the other crucial seat of Palghar in Maharashtra. One of the most crucial among the seats is western Uttar Pradesh's Kairana where the opposition parties put up a show of unity to take on the BJP in the run up to the general elections next year.

The Bhandara-Gondia (Maharashtra) BJP-NCP candidates are showing a competitive lead. The results of the Nagaland Lok Sabha seat are highlighted by the NDPP candidate. The Kairan Candidate is currently leading to over 13,000 votes.

While coming to assembly seats, the Congress candidate is in the lead over a huge majority in Karnataka RR Nagar (Rajarajeshwari Nagar). In the fourth round, the Congress candidate got a lead of 18000.

The SP candidate is leading in the Nurpur (Assembly seat) constituency in Uttar Pradesh. The TMC candidate is dominated by Mahestala-West Bengal. With the prospect of being the first to emerge, the Congress candidate in Cadega-Maharashtra is almost sure to win.

Re-polling was held yesterday in 73 polling booths in Kairana, 49 polling stations in Maharashtra's Bhandara-Gondia and one polling station in Nagaland, after the Election Commission (EC) announced that re-polling will take place in these booths after widespread failure of the machines in Monday's by-elections.

The assembly seats where the by-elections were held on Monday are Noorpur (Uttar Pradesh), Jokihat (Bihar), Tharali (Uttarakhand), Gomia and Silli (Jharkhand), Maheshtala (West Bengal), Ampati (Meghalaya), Palus Kadegaon (Maharashtra), Shahkot (Punjab) and Chengannur (Kerala).
