NTR biography in school syllabus

Hyderabad, May 28: The Tollywood legendary actor and Telugu Desam Party founder, former CM late Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao’s 95th birth anniversary was observed on Monday. The family and party put forth a variety of demands on the occasion.

Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Telugu Desam Party national president N Chandrababu Naidu renewed his demand to the Centre to confer Bharat Ratna to the legendary actor who created history in politics too by coming to power in less than nine months of launching the party. He said the welfare path designed by the late leader would be followed

NTR's eldest son Harikrishna demanded that lessons on NTR's life should be made a part of the school curriculum. Chandrababu Naidu responded positively to the demand by announcing that the government would introduce lessons on NTR’s life in school syllabus. The state government also announced that a statue and a memorial of NTR would be set up prominently in upcoming capital Amaravati.

Rama Rao's daughter and former (Congress) Union Minister Daggubati Purandeswari, who is currently associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party, demanded that the Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh be named after NTR. Recently, YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy promised to name Krishna district after NTR, if his party is voted to power in the 2019 elections. Rao was born in Nimmakuru in Krishna district.

NTR's widow Lakshmi Parvathi alleged that Chandrababu Naidu was puncturing the ideals of NTR by moving close with the Congress Party. NTR founded the TDP against the Congress Party and bulldozed its monopoly in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh within months of his launching into politics.
