Karnataka newly-elected Congress MLA killed

Bengaluru, May 28: In a brutal road accident, Ex-Union Minister and newly-elected Karnataka Congress MLA Siddu Bhimappa Nyamagouda died in a road accident in the early hours.

The 70-yr-old Siddu Bhimappa, who was re-elected from JamKhandi constituency in Bagalkot district by defeating BJP candidate Shrikanth Subbarao, gravely injured when a truck had hit the car he was traveling.

Siddu Bhimappa was on his way from Goa to Bagalkot. While he was rushed to a hospital, doctors declared brought dead. The shocking incident took place in the early hours of Monday near Tulasigeri.

Siddu Bhimappa is survived by wife, two sons and three daughters. He had served as the union minister in the PV Narasimha Rao cabinet during 1990-91.

Siddu Bhimappa Nayamagouda's final rites are likely to be attended by senior leaders of the state.
