Bollywood Veteran Actress Geeta Kapoor passed away

Mumbai, May 26: The Bollywood Veteran actor Geeta Kapoor died on Saturday morning at a Mumbai hospital; she was 57.

The actor was abandoned by her children last year and film personalities Ashoke Pandit and Ramesh Taurani were paying for her care. The actor worked in over 100 films including classics such as Pakeezah.

Speaking to media, Pandit confirmed that the actor passed away on Saturday morning at SRV Hospital in Mumbai. "Geeta ji finally passed away, we tried our level best to care for her, but she finally gave up. She kept waiting for her children for last one full year, but no one came to meet her," the former CBFC member said.

Media revealed in May last year that Kapoor was brought to SRV Hospital in an unconscious state in April and was suffering from low blood pressure. Geeta's son Raja, who is a choreographer, left the hospital claiming he would return with cash (deposit for Geeta's admission at the hospital) but he never showed up.

Kapoor's son, Raja, is said to be a choreographer. Her daughter, Pooja, is an air hostess.

In "Pakeezah", Geeta Kapoor played the role of Rajkumar's second wife while Meena Kumari featured in the lead role.
