Varanasi, May 16: According to new reports, the death toll in the collapse of Varanasi flyover has increased to at-least 18 persons. Many are reportedly injured and three persons have been pulled out of the structure alive.
A crane pulled out all the cars buried under the collapsed bridge. A compensation of Rs 5 lakh each has been announced for the families of the dead and Rs 2 lakh for critically injured.
The Chief Minister mourned the loss of lives and directed officials to ensure prompt rescue and relief. A team has been formed to investigate and sent to Varanasi to start the investigation immediately.
