Varanasi flyover collapse: 16 killed; Modi, Yogi reacts

Varanasi, May 15: An under-construction flyover in Varanasi collapsed on Tuesday trapping atleast 50 and killing over 16 people. The death toll has not been confirmed yet and it may go up as rescue operation is still underway.

A police officer informed that many cars have been traped. The incident took place in-front of Varanasi Railway station.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives in the incident.

Modi tweeted: "Extremely saddened by the loss of lives due to the collapse of an under-construction flyover in Varanasi. I pray that the injured recover soon. Spoke to officials and asked them to ensure all possible support to those affected."

Yogi too mourned the death of people and said that investigation will be carried out.
