Leaders of JDS and BJP meets governor

Bangalore, May 15: Bharatiya Janata Party's chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa on Tuesday evening met Governor Vajubhai Vala and staked claim to form the government in the state after his party swept the single-phase assembly elections held on May 12.

Yeddyurappa went to meet the Governor along with party leader and Union Minister Ananth Kumar after results from Saturday's Assembly election threw up a split verdict.

Earlier, while addressing a press briefing, BSY said that the people of Karnataka have supported the party in a big way in the May 12 Assembly elections.

He asked him to give them the chance to form the government. Yeddyurappa said that his party has emerged as the largest party.

In the elections, the BJP emerged as the largest party with 104 seats. Congress was second with 78 seats, with JDS topping the list with 38 seats and became Kingmaker.

HD Kumaraswamy and Congress leaders, including Ghulam Nabi Azad and Siddaramiah, met Governor Vajubhai Vala and staked claim to form government in the state.

The political situation in Karnataka has changed with the announcement made by the Congress that they will give full support to the JDS. Both the BJP and the Congress are trying to form the Govt with JDS.
