Karnataka Election Results: JDS wins Chamundeshwari over Congress

Bengaluru, May 15: Ahead of Karnataka Assembly elections results, Even though most exit polls predicted a hung assembly, the BJP surged ahead towards the magic 113-mark in the Karnataka elections on Tuesday, leaving the ruling Congress stunned and JD(S) at a third spot.

According to latest trends, BJP candidates were on the winning track in 105 constituencies while the Congress was in the lead in 70.

In 2013, the Congress had won 122 seats. The BJP and the JD(S) got 40 seats each, while Yeddyurappa's then Karnataka Jantha Paksha got six seats and B Sriramulu's Badavara Shramikara Raitara Congress Party bagged four.

Incumbent Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of the Congress was leading in Badami but struggling in Chamundeshwari nearly three hours into the counting of votes on Tuesday for the Karnataka assembly elections held on May 12.

According to the latest numbers by the Election Commission, JD(S) leader GT Deve Gowda is leading in Chamundeshwari constituency by over 14,000 votes. While Deve Gowda has 38,039 votes, Siddaramaiah has 23,305 votes so far.

JD(S) workers are celebrating in full swing near the residence of GT Deve Gowda, who has gained an emphatic lead over Siddaramaiah in Chamundeshwari.

After 12 rounds of counting, GT Deve Gowda and S Yathindra both establish unassailable leads in the neighbouring constituencies of Chamundeswari and Varuna respectively. Victory imminent for both.

Contesting against BJP's B Sriramulu in Badami, Siddaramaiah is currently leading by over 3,000 votes.
