Siddaramaiah condolances to UP dust storm deaths, slams UP CM

Bengaluru, May 03: The Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has expressed his condolences to people of Uttar Pradesh as the number of those killed in Wednesday's rain and storm.

As the death toll in the dust storm and lightning strikes at many places in Uttar Pradesh overnight mounted to 64, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took a dig at his UP counterpart Yogi Adityanath, saying "while the BJP leader is needed in Karnataka currently, he would soon return to his state to do his work”.

Adityanath is currently in the poll-bound state Karnataka to campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party.

"At least 64 people have lost their lives due to a storm in Uttar Pradesh. My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones.

I am sorry your CM is needed here in Karnataka. I am sure he will return soon & attend to his work there," he tweeted.

Meanwhile, death toll in the dust storm climbed to 64. Of these, 43 are from Agra. Another 47 persons have been injured in the Wednesday night disaster.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has told officials to ensure rescue and relief work in the worst hit Agra, Bijnore, Bareilly, Unnao, Saharanpur, Pilibhit, Firozabad, Chitrakoot, Muzaffarnagar and Rae Bareli districts.
