Minister KTR inaugurates Medchal Interchange of the Outer Ring Road

Hyderabad, May 02: The Telangana Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development KT Rama Rao has inaugurated the Medchal Interchange of the ORR at Kandlakoya.

The Minister even took the driver's seat in his official car for a feel of driving along the newly laid road here.

The work on the interchange was held up on a stretch of 1.10 km due to a stay order from Hyderabad High Court. In November, the Supreme Court had quashed the stay and permitted the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to commence construction.

The project has now been completed with a 1.10-km long carriageway and three major structures. There are also another 18 minor structures as part of the interchange and the total length of road work, including service roads and ramps, covered a length of 9.80 km. The total cost of the Medchal Interchange was Rs 125 crore.

It benefits traffic from Hyderabad, Nagpur, Patancheru, and Pedda Amberpet in proceeding on to the ORR or exiting it. Traffic from these areas was earlier forced to take a detour of about 3 km for accessing the ORR.
