Sonepat, April 28: Anu Kumari, 31, from Haryana's Sonepat district, secured the 2nd rank in the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) Civil Services exam 2017, the results of which were declared on Friday

Mother of a four-year-old, Anu Kumari achieved this feat in her second attempt. She was just short of one mark in her previous UPSC preliminary examination. A devoted mother, she not only fulfilled her household responsibilities but took out 10-12 hours every day for her studies.

There was no newspaper in the village where I was preparing for my exams," she told. She resorted to online content for UPSC preparations, she said.

"Technically this was my second attempt, but I consider it as my first only because I could not prepare at all last time. I'm glad that I cleared it this time or next year would have been my last attempt due to the age limit," she said.
