Hema Gamang quits BJD

New Delhi, April 27: Former MP Hema Gamang today resigned from the BJD, citing negligence by the ruling party towards her constituency as one of the main reasons behind the decision.

Hema submitted her resignation letter to party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik citing that she was 'grossly neglected' in the party.

Addressing a press conference in Rayagada, Hema Gamang announced her decision to quit the party citing seven reasons including 'corrupt PC (percentage) practice' and statements of party MP on tribal community.

"I have sent my resignation to party supremo. All the supporters who had joined BJD were neglected and we are repenting such a decision," said Hema.

Speculation is rife that the former MP might join the BJP, having met Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on April 15.

Gamang had joined the BJD just before Assembly elections in 2014. She was elected to the 13th Lok Sabha in 1999 on a Congress ticket.
