OUCET to be conducted through Online for first time

Hyderabad, Apr 22: For the first time, the Osmania University Common Entrance Test (OUCET) would be conducted online through the Computer Based Test (CBT).

To this effect, the university on Friday issued notification inviting applications from the candidates for admissions into 52 courses including PG, PG Diploma and five year integrated programmes offered by campus, constituent and affiliated colleges of OU, Telangana University (TU), Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU), Palamuru University (PU) and Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University for the academic year 2018-19.

For the first time, the admissions into MA Telugu, MA Mass Communication and Journalism and MA Linguistics courses in Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University would be through the OUCET.

The entrance tests would be conducted from June 4 to 13 in erstwhile 10 districts unlike every year where exams were held in Hyderabad only. This apart, centres for certificate verification would be arranged in the OU, TU, MGU and PU.

"Conducting exam through the CBT will help us in announcing the result quickly," Prof. N Kishan, Director of Admissions, OU said.

As the OUCET is being held through the CBT, the registration fee has been hiked by Rs.200. For OC/BC candidates, test fee for a single subject is Rs.700 whereas for SC/ST/PH candidates it is Rs.575. For each additional subject, an aspirant has to pay Rs.450. Earlier, the test fee was Rs.500 for OC/BC candidates and Rs.375 for SC/ST/PH.

The online submission of application form commences from April 21 and last date to submit without a late fee is May 19. Candidates can apply with a late fee of Rs.200 and Rs.1,000 till May 26 and June 1 respectively.
