Rs 5.7 crore of new notes in bathroom

Bengalore, Dec 11 : In Karnataka the I-T department done a series of raids and recovered Rs 5.7 crore of new notes in the bathroom of a hawala dealer at chitradurga and in Hyderabad the CBI also recovered Rs 65 lakh of Rs 2000 notes from a senior superintendent of postoffice.

Income-Tax officers are doing searches at the house of K C veerendra at challekere town. The CBI officials told veerendra is said to be King in matka, hawala operator and money lender. At the house of Veerendra they recovered 28 kg of silver, 4 kg of gold 5.7 crore in Rs 2000 notes and Rs 90 lakh of Rs 100 and Rs 20 notes.

The Panaji directorate of the director general of IT department at Karnataka and Goa said "the teams of IT were present at around 15 premises spread across Karnataka and Goa".

The Tax Officers searched homes and shops of businessmen samundar singh and Vishnu R Habib and seized unaccounted gold and cash from Habib's house and shop at Hubballi. They found almost Rs 2 lakh in cash and half a kilo of gold.
