Salman Khan reaches Jodhpur court

Mumbai, Apr 05: Bollywood Super Star Salman Khan, one of India's biggest stars, faces a court verdict today over allegations of killing two blackbuck near Jodhpur in Rajasthan 20 years ago.

Tiger Zinda Hai actor, accused of hunting blackbuck while working on the film "Hum Saath Saath Hain" in 1998, will be in court along with his co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Tabu and Sonali Bendre.

In this perspective, If Salman Khan is convicted, he could face up to six years in jail.Blackbuck is an endangered species that is protected under the Wildlife Act, and the punishment for killing the animal is imprisonment upto six years.

In January 2017, the Jodhpur court had acquitted Khan in the Arms Act case filed against him in 1998 in connection with poaching blackbucks and chinkaras in Rajasthan. The cases continue to remain pending in different courts as the prosecution has filed appeals against all the acquittals.
