Woman Declared brain dead after hit By COP

Eluru, Apr 05: In a strange incident, A city techie was declared brain-dead due to the injuries she suffered after she met with an accident late on Tuesday here. The person responsible for the accident is a police constable who was riding in an inebriated state.

The victim was identified as Chinnabattini Mythri Tejaswini (27) and the accused constable was Katati Srinivas, who works with the City Armed Reserve (CAR) wing.

The incident happened near Vijaya Talkies at Gorila Dibba on Eluru Road. Chinnabattina Mytri Tejaswini (27) a native of Gunadala and presently working as a software professional at Chennai was heading home along with her brother. Her brother Michael Raviteja borrowed his neighbour’s bike for her sister’s shopping at Besant Road.

After shopping, both returned home on the bike. As they reached Gorila Dibba, a speeding bike hit them from behind. Tejaswini fell on the road with the collision and her head got hit to the median. She received severe head injuries and went into unconscious state on the spot with blood coming out from her nose and ears.

Following a complaint by Michael Raviteja, Surya Rao Pet police took Srinivas into custody and suspended him from duties immediately. Police recorded statements of family members and a case under section 338 of IPC was registered against him."The accused police constable Srinivas was previously suspended. He has been sent to remand," city police Commissioner Gautam Sawang said.
