Amit Shah faux pas: Yeddyurappa the most corrupt CM

Bangalore, Mar 27: "Bharatiya Janata Party National President Amit Shah finally spoke the truth today" this was the message the Congress and several social media users shared on Tuesday after Shah misspoke at a press conference in Karnataka's Davanagere district.

Coming to the details, Amit Shah made an embarrassing goof-up in election-bound Karnataka. While addressing a press conference in the Devnagere city, Shah termed, albeit mistakenly, his party's chief ministerial candidate B S Yeddyurappa as "the CM who led the most corrupt government in the country". He, obviously, meant the incumbent CM K Siddaramaiah of the rival Congress party.

"If there was a competition in corruption, the Yeddyurappa government would get the No. 1 award," Shah said, referring to former Karnataka chief minister and state BJP President BS Yeddyurappa.

Incidentally, Mr. Yeddyurappa was acquitted recently in the case related to receiving funds in an illegal manner from a mining firm during his tenure as Chief Minister.

The slip caused embarrassment for Mr. Yeddyurappa who was seated beside Mr. Shah. Mr. Shah corrected the statement after Dharwad MP Pralhad Joshi immediately brought the mistake to his notice.
