Telangana districts to get Cancer screening centers soon

Hyderabad, Mar 22: The Telangana Minister for Medical and Health C Laxma Reddy said here on Tuesday, The Medical and Health Department is trying to set up cancer screening centers in all the district headquarters of the State.

Replying to question raised by Karne Prabhakar in the Legislative Council, he said that after the formation of the State, 13 cancer screening centers were opened in 13 districts and soon all 31 districts will have the same facility.

He said that after opening 13 cancer screening centers, 5 lakh people had been screened so far of which more than 2,000 people were detected with cancer. "The district cancer screening centers will help in the early detection of the disease which is very essential to save lives," Reddy said.

The Minister said large-scale awareness programmes are also being conducted across the State. Under Telangana Health profile programme, the government will conduct all tests and prepare a health record of the State's population, he said.
