Man arrested for duping as Vice Presidents PA

Hyderabad, Mar 21: The Hyderabad Cybercrime police arrested a Vizianagaram native on charges of calling public servants and public representatives posing as the personal assistant of Vice President of India and requesting them for favors such as transfers and college seats, police said.

The arrested person was identified as P Naveen alias Arjun Rao, 20, a supervisor in a real estate venture at Bhogapuram, Vizianagaram.

According to the Cybercrime police, last week, BJP MLA G Kishan Reddy lodged a complaint stating that one person identified as Arjun Rao, posing as an employee working in the Vice President's Office had been sending messages and calls to people and blackmailing them for official favours. However when they enquired, there was no such person working in the VP's office.

Based on his complaint, a case was booked and based on technical evidence, Arjun Rao was arrested.

"He told his friends and relatives that he had good contacts with politicians and government officials and could get any work done with his influence. To convince them, he started calling various public representatives and public servants posing as the personal assistant to the Vice President," police said.
