Drunk Woman driver rammed bike, Youth dies

Hyderabad, Mar 19: In a tragic incident, A 20-year-old person died and his friend sustained critical wounds when the bike they were traveling in was rammed by a car being driven by a woman, under the influence of alcohol, at Raidurgam on Sunday.

According to police, the incident occurred around 11.30 pm when the deceased, R Chiranjeevi, was going along with his friend, R Saikumar, to deliver a food packet on his two-wheeler. Chiranjeevi worked as a delivery boy at Zomato Food Delivery while Saikumar, who accompanied him, is a student, police said.

As the vehicle reached T-Hub, a car from Durgam Cheruvu Lake heading towards Kokapet hit the bike following which Chiranjeevi suffered serious injuries to the head.

Raidurgam Inspector M Ram Babu said Chiranjeevi died while undergoing treatment at a nearby private hospital and his friend Saikumar was undergoing treatment and his condition was stated to be out of danger.

Police arrested the car driver identified as Kumari Jennie Jacob (26), a resident of Blossoms Apartment in Kokapet. Jennie, a Chartered Accountant student, had a liquor party with her friend Lisa and they both were returning when the accident occurred. "She was in an inebriated condition and her Blood Alcohol Concentration levels were registered as 51 mg/ml" Babu said.

Based on a complaint, police have booked a case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and investigation is on. Jennie has been arrested and her car was seized. She will be produced before the court on Monday.
