Govt :Ram Setu Wouldnt be disturbed

New Delhi Mar 16: The Centre government on Friday has stated that it wouldn't disturb the Ram Setu Project. The Centre has filed an affidavit in this regard in the SC.

The Response was filed in response to a petition filed by Subramanian Swamy against the setu samudram project initiated by the UPA Govt. The Govt had said that "considering the socio-economic disadvantages of the proposed alignment, the government of India does not want to implement said alignment. The government intends to explore an alternative to the earlier alignment of the Sethusamudram shipping canal project without affecting or damaging Adam's bridge/ Ram Setu, in the interest of the nation."

Earlier there were many protests against the UPA govt and said that the project would hurt religious sentiments. Earlier UPA had argued that there was no Ram Setu bridge but later it was withdrawn.
