Neiphiu Rio sworn in as Nagaland chief minister

New Delhi, Mar 08: Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) leader Neiphiu Rio was on Thursday sworn in as the chief minister of Nagaland, according to media reports.

This comes after the BJP and the Nationalist Democratic People's Party (NDPP) won 29 seats in the elections, results for which were announced last week.

In this regard, BJP chief Amit Shah, Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attended the ceremony in state capital Kohima.

The BJP's Y Patton also took oath as the state's deputy chief minister. Nine other ministers also took oath.

Rio has served as the state's CM three times before this, between 2003 and 2014.
