Wilful Defaulters cases decrease

Mumbai Mar 7: Currently the irregularities and NPAs in the banking system are being discussed by the public after the PNB scam has broken out. Recently a Data published by Transunion Cibil has indicated that the number of cases of wilful defaults has decreased in past 3 months.

The data has revealed that "the total quantum of non-performing assets (NPA) related to wilful default cases in the courts decreased to Rs 1.04 lakh crore by December-end, against Rs 1.11 lakh crore by the end of September."

The report has also indicated that "The number of cases pending with the courts also decreased.The total number of suit filed decreased to 8,494 as of December from 9,339 in September."

The data added that "NPAs being contested in the courts for 19 state-run lenders excluding the State Bank of India came down to Rs 59,742 crore (5,239 cases) from the Rs 65,641 crore (5,899 cases) as of September-end."

The report assumes significance because recently there has been a huge bank scam and Nirav Modi has escaped the country.
