Hyderabad to become a Crime-Free city soon

Hyderabad, March 05: Before the crack of dawn, roads leading to People's Plaza on Necklace Road wore a festive look on Sunday morning with over 6,000 people taking part in the run organized by the SHE Teams of Hyderabad police with a theme 'For A Crime-Free Hyderabad'.

Runs in three different categories 2K, 5K and 10K were organized as part of International Women's Day to be celebrated on March 8 to raise awareness on the safety and security of women in the city.

The run was flagged off by Indian shuttler P.V. Sindhu, Tollywood actor Vijay Devarakonda and In-charge Director General of Police M. Mahender Reddy.

Since the formation of the State, women safety was the top priority of the government which was why SHE teams were formed and at present, over 100 SHE teams have been working in the city, said Mr. Reddy.

"The SHE teams are available round the clock to ensure that women in the city feel safe, and have the freedom to move around," he said while addressing the participants.

The SHE teams have made a tremendous difference in the lives of women living here. Among all the metropolitan cities across the country, Hyderabad is rated the best for women to live, the DGP said.

Later, all the participants were given a specially-designed SHE Teams Run medal and a certificate. In-charge Hyderabad Commissioner of Police V.V. Srinivasa Rao, Additional Commissioner (Crimes and SHE Teams) Swathi Lakra, Joint Commissioner (Traffic) V. Ravinder and others participated in the run.
