New Delhi, Mar 05: "The Shape of Water" was the big winner at the 90th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday picking up a leading four Oscars. The off-beat fantasy about a mute cleaning woman who falls in love with a sea creature won best picture award and best director for Guillermo del Toro.
Guillermo del Toro's fantasy romance The Shape of Water picked up four honors — including the night's big prize, best picture — at the 90th Academy Awards Sunday night. Del Toro took home best director for his film, which also won for original score and production design
"I was a kid enamored with movies, growing up in Mexico. I thought this could never happen – it happens," del Toro said in his acceptance speech.
He also dedicated the award to young filmmakers, calling them "the youth that is showing us how things are done — really, they are — in every country in the world" before also encouraging makers of genre and fantasy tales.
