GHMC targets to collect Rs 400 cr property tax in March alone

Hyderabad, March 02: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has decided to collect Rs 400 crore in the way of property tax in March 2018.

Out of Rs 14,000 crore fixed target for collection of property tax in this financial year (2017-18), the civic body has already achieved 71.03 per cent ( Rs 994.39 crore) and the remaining 29 percent will be collected by this end of the financial year. It will intensify Property tax collection at all the five zones with an aim to collect Rs 400 crore in March.

Property tax is one of the major revenue sources for the Municipal Corporation.

The Corporation has set itself a target of collecting Rs 13.52 crore a day towards the task of collecting Rs 400 crore property tax by this month end.

During the last three months, the GHMC staff are preoccupied with conducting different awareness programmes as part of the Swachh Survekshan 2018 ranking.

With the Swachh Survekshan teams completing examining of all documents and Swachh Hyderabad initiatives, the staff is now laying focus on property tax collection.

The Corporation has managed to collect property tax of Rs 994.39 crore as on February 28, 2018 against Rs 861.63 crore collected in the corresponding period in previous year.
