Hyderabad bags prestigious award

Hyderabad Feb 28: Hyderabad has won a prestigious award under the Beti Bachao Beti Padao Scheme.Telangana State capital be awarded for its 'exemplary performance' towards protection, welfare, and education of girl children.

The Awards would be given in Rajasthan, in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 8, International Women's Day.10 districts from the country have been selected for the awards.

Imtiyaz Rahim, Child Protection Officer for Hyderabad has said that "We are very excited about the award. A meeting will be held on Wednesday evening for official discussion on the development. Hyderabad Collector Yogitha Rana will receive the award on behalf of Hyderabad officials. A few senior officials from Department of Women and Child Welfare of the Government of Telangana may accompany Rana, depending upon the deliberations in the meeting."

The award for Hyderabad comes under the 'Effective Community Engagement' category while the other categories are 'Enabling Girl Child Education' and 'Protection of Girl Child (from foeticide)'.
