SEBI Orders HDFC To probe the Financial result data leak case

Mumbai Feb 24: In a move to further probe in the Whatsapp result of companies data case.The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) has directed HDFC Bank to conduct an internal probe into the leakage of financial results before their disclosure to stock exchanges.

Currently, SEBI is investigating the leak of the bank's earnings, which were doing the rounds on WhatsApp groups, operated by market traders before the results were announced.

SEBI has added that "it asked HDFC Bank to investigate the role of persons with access to this information in the leaks. The probe will involve those preparing board notes and presentations. Also, people consolidating figures and dissemination of information relating to financial results in the public domain should be investigated."

Earlier the market regulator has ordered banks to probe the similar matter and submit its report.
