Iran President left for Delhi after two day visit of Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Feb 16: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani left here on Friday evening after a two-day hectic tour of Hyderabad, which has centuries-old historic and cultural ties with Iran.

He was seen off at the Begumpet airport by among others by Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governor E S L Narasimhan, Union Minister of State for Power R K Singh, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mohmood Ali, Director General of Police M Mahender Reddy and top police and civil officials besides officials from the Iranian Consulate.

On the second day of his three-day visit to India, Rouhani joined commoners in offering prayers at the historic Mecca Masjid.

Accompanied by ministers and senior officials, Rouhani offered 'namaz' in the first row. Before that he sat through the sermons delivered in Arabic by Moulana Rizwan Qureshi, Imam of the mosque in the Muslim-majority old city.

Qureshi, during his sermon, prayed for the safety of Muslims across the world, especially in Palestine, Syria and Yemen.

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali, Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and legislators of his party were also present.

He will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on Saturday and will discuss various issues including. A number of MOUs are also expected to be signed after the meeting of the two leaders.
