Around 105 members arrested under Drunken drive case in Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Feb 11: The traffic police on Saturday night booked 105 persons for allegedly driving vehicles in an inebriated condition.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Koteshwar Rao, the enforcement drive began around 11 pm on Saturday and went up till 2 am on Sunday and it was conducted by five different teams. As many as 63 two-wheelers and 42 four-wheelers were seized.

“The offenders were let off after issuing challan and their vehicles were seized,” he said, adding that the vehicles would be released after the completion of court procedures.

For the drive on Saturday night, the department’s new strategy -forming special teams by picking up personnel randomly from the various traffic police stations of the city was implemented.

The teams were deployed in places falling under Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills traffic police station limits. Madhapur road, Jubilee Hills check-post and Road No 10 were the places where a majority of the offenders were caught.

"In the drive, two women, who were driving cars, were also issued challans. The Blood Alcohol Concentration levels of the women were between 70 and 100 mg/ml," he said.
